Galician Hutsul region had significant recreational potential due to its special natural and climatic conditions, the development and establishment of which was particularly influenced by the laying of the Stanislaviv-Voronenka railway branch in 1894, which greatly improved the logistics of the region under study. The railway administration itself was interested in various promotions related to the sale of train tickets in order to increase its profits and passenger traffic. Special additional trains were organized for the summer periods, when the load on rail transport was particularly high, and discounts were offered in the winter period so as not to lose customers. The railway was the marker along which numerous villas and sanatoriums began to be built, especially in such settlements of the Galician Hutsul region as Yaremche, Mykulychyn, Tatariv, and Vorokhta. There were plans to lay a railway line in the Kosiv district of the Galician Hutsul region along the banks of the Black Cheremosh River through Zhabie (modern Verkhovyna) to Burkut, but these plans did not come to fruition, although this region also had prospects for recreational development. The press at the time paid considerable attention to the issue of choosing locations for the construction of villas and sanatoriums, characterizing them in terms of the services they provided, thus creating competition in this market, and also addressed the problems that hindered this process.
The development of balneological resorts in Deliatyn and Burkut, the presence of hydrotherapeutic sanatoriums in Yaremche, Tatariv, and Vorokhta, consultations with renowned doctors, the creation of numerous mountain routes of varying difficulty, the operation of various tourist shelters, the provision of catering services, the existence of a well-thought-out system of promotional discounts on train tickets both in summer and winter attracted an increasing number of vacationers and brought considerable income to the owners of villas and sanatoriums, while at the same time encouraging the authorities to improve the existing infrastructure. The local population also took an active part in the process of developing tourism in the region, in particular by selling food to vacationers, providing horse-drawn transport services, and working in guesthouses and sanatoriums.
